Away

How lonesome it is to be home alone. I don't mean the regular home alone like when I work here all day every day, I'm talking about when my wife and daughter are away on a trip, which they are. I miss them simply because when they're gone this is just a house - not a home. I will be glad when they're back home and things get back to normal.

The bridge

My good friend Jan has written a book and a publisher has agreed to publish it! Great going Jan!

On my end, Jan has asked me to photograph the old bridge at Rock Island, retouch out the new concrete bridge and create an artistic rendering to use on the cover. I'm excited about that! I have the bridge shot, retouched and am now working on the rendering. It is going to be great! Thanks Jan.

Liberty Square Celebration today

Looks like it is going to be a perfect day for the celebration on the square. I was worried earlier this week that we might have to clear snow away so we could celebrate, but thankfully things have turned around quite nicely!

What it feels like to grow

I'm not talking about physically, though many of us are all too familiar with that feeling too! I am talking about growing on the inside, the spiritual man. I wondered for a long time how it was supposed to feel to grow spiritually. Now, I find my mind turning more and more to things of a spiritual nature. I find myself looking for the leading of God's Spirit and listening for His direction and trying to be aware of doors that are opening and sometimes closing in my life. It is at times frightening, but always interesting and surprisingly refreshing! Making a concerted effort to walk with the Lord instead of trying to look like I'm walking with the Lord has, and is, making remarkable changes in my life and how I perceive things going on around me. For instance, I am learning to disabuse myself of the notion of coincidence and become more comfortable with the providence of God. I hope to able to share more encouraging experiences with you soon!

Someone left the windows open!

At least that is what it feels like here: it is chilly! I'm not one to complain about hot weather so I reserve the right to voice my dislike of cold weather and that is what I'm doing!

I don't like it! Even though this isn't by many standards "cold" it is chilly enough for it to be uncomfortable for me! I enjoy and long for sunshine and warm summer days!

Rain and Pain!

Ever noticed how old folks like me seem to feel more pain when it is raining? I remember when I was younger thinking how silly it was for people to talk about how rainy days made them feel worse, physically! Trust me: I now am a true believer!
