Ed Wilhite has been involved in the photographic arts since 1974 when he borrowed his Dad's Argus 35mm camera to take with him on a Boy Scout camping trip. Since then he has worked tirelessly through both professional and self-directed studies to perfect his practice of the art form. Along the way, he has become deeply involved in other aspects of the business and has become a sought after marketing and design consultant. In 1994, frustrated that he was unable to buy magazines that suited his tastes, he launched his own titled "Tennessee Living Magazine" which he eventually sold after gaining success in the marketplace. Since then he has worked purely as a consultant and a freelancer handling national & regional accounts and producing some of the largest direct mail campaigns in the history of the USPS. Since 2000, after being temporarily sidelined with health problems, he created Rock Island Graphics which has become a regional touchstone in the publishing and photographic industries. Angie Wilhite married Ed in 1979 and soon discovered that he was wired a little differently than most people. She has persevered, though, through more than thirty years of creative madness and mounds of photographic gear, books, computer equipment, books, clutter and books. She, however, is the real brains behind the "organization" of Rock Island Graphics (since Ed isn't organized at all) and the person that makes the financial wheels spin. One fact she learned the hard way is that creative people often are fairly unconcerned with money though she as a wife, mother and homemaker is always concerned with money. Something had to give, so Angie jumped in becoming the business manager for Rock Island Graphics. Her insistence on contracts, timely billing, reasonable work rates, etc., have made a tremendous difference in business facets of the company (except when Ed goes off the reservation and freelances a deal behind her back - that always turns out, well, enough said.) Angie is invaluable to the business both in financial matters and as an inspiration. Without her our shutters would fall silent and our computers would fall dark. If you have a need for a quotation on a project, a billing question, or a contract inquiry, please contact Angie at the link below. |
